The Basics: Manual Therapy Triad
The basis of the Dynamic Balance approach to therapeutic physical care is the Manual Therapy Triad (or Triad). The Triad consists of:
- foundational strength training
- stretching, and
- tissue manipulation.
Elements of the Triad can be found throughout modern and ancient practices of physical care and training. Numerous forms of Yoga, for example, emphasize stretching and flexibility; aerobics classes often focus on strength and cardiovascular capacity, weight training and drills build strength. Physical therapy is varying blend of these elements.
At Dynamic Balance, the Triad is employed first and foremost to correct aberrant movement patterns and soft tissue dysfunction. The goal is to improve your physical hygiene, helping to heal and prevent injuries. Only after correcting base function can we pursue general fitness or specific athletic concerns.
